VTD 2016 Scholarship Recipient

Jasmine Sinkler

Jasmine Sinkler is a Freshman on the Pre- Law track, pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science from New York. From the first time Jasmine stepped foot on Spelman’s campus, she knew Spelman would be the perfect place for her to blossom into the women she had always dreamt of becoming. Receiving the Virginia T. Dowell Scholarship not only afforded Jasmine Spelman’s sisterhood, but to also continue her education and overcome financial obstacles. Providing Jasmine with this scholarship has given her the confidence and motivation to continue her path to success at Spelman College.

Jasmine is actively involved in Serving Our Armed Services (SAS), an organization dedicated to providing support to the US Military and also works in the Financial Aid Office. During her tenure at Spelman, Jasmine plans to participate in a study abroad program, join a Social Justice or Advocacy Club, be recognized academically on the Dean’s List as well as be inducted into the Pre-Law Society. Upon graduation, Jasmine will work hard to become a Civil Rights Attorney or Prosecutor and will eventually become a District Attorney.
