NY-NAASC Mission

The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports Spelman College, a historically black college for women, thorough financial gifts, student recruitment, community service and recognition of Spelman women. The NY-NAASC serves over 3,000 alumnae in the New York metropolitan area. It fosters the national mission through many activities including an annual scholarship fundraiser, scholarship giving, new-student picnic, social networking events, community service and attending college fairs.

Chapter Goals

The purpose of the NY-NAASC is to...

  • Provide a channel of communication between New York alumnae and Spelman College

  • Unite and promote fellowship among Spelman Women

  • Promote growth of the college through financial support

  • Stimulate interest among young women to attend Spelman

  • Foster an awareness and, whenever possible, an involvement in National Regional and Local concerns of the Association

  • Promote the continuing growth and development of alumnae through mutual self-help; leadership opportunities; and various cooperative activities

  • Solicit funds for the College and sustain interest in the welfare of Spelman College

  • Receive and maintain funds of real and personal property and use or apply such funds for educational and charitable purposes either directly or by contributions to similarly constituted organizations within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954

The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College

The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) is the official organization that supports Spelman College, a historically black college for women, through financial gifts, student recruitment, sisterhood, community service, and recognition of Spelman women. The Association provides, encourages and promotes growth and development of alumnae through leadership opportunities and partnership alliances. NAASC actively seeks to involve all former students and graduates in the fulfillment of its purpose.
