Mission

The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports Spelman College, a historically black college for women, through financial gifts, student recruitment, community service, and recognition of Spelman women. The NY-NAASC serves over 3,000 alumnae in the New York metropolitan area! It fosters the national mission through many activities, including an annual scholarship gala, scholarship giving, new student picnic, social networking events, community service, and attending college fairs.

Chapter Purpose

New York Chapter of NAASC is a non-profit organization consisting of alumnae of Spelman College living in the New York metropolitan area and its surrounding suburbs. The purpose of the organization is to:

  • Provide a channel of communication between New York alumnae and Spelman College

  • Unite and promote fellowship among Spelman women

  • Promote growth of the College through financial support

  • Stimulate interest among young women to attend Spelman

  • Foster an awareness and, whenever possible, an involvement in National Regional and Local concerns of the Association

  • Promote the continuing growth and development of alumnae through mutual self-help; leadership opportunities; and various cooperative activities
