A Note from our Chapter President

Greetings from the NY-NAASC!  As the current President of the New York Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NY-NAASC), I want to welcome you and thank you in advance for connecting with the Spelman sisterhood in NYC.

While the Chapter has been around for many years, the vision for the 2023-2024 chapter year is “Spelman in the City.”  The past few years have been extremely challenging. Between the devastating effects of COVID-19 and the impact that it's had on our City, our students and our alma mater, know that the NY-NAASC is still here and our work to connect the NYC Spelman alumnae community is still in full swing.

Whether you’re new to the area, or have lost touch with us over the years, we invite you to connect with us and experience a little of our #SpelmanInTheCity spirit. We look forward to seeing you at both chapter meetings and our events. We have never stopped being about the business of our beloved alma mater. We hope that you will join us!

Are you looking for a tangible way to connect with the NY alumnae community? We’ve got lots of ways for you to be as involved as you’d like. Is giving back important to you?  We invite you to join our Community Service Committee!  Are you interested in helping to bring in the next generation of Spelman students? Join our Recruitment Committee!  Do you care about the financial well-being of our alma mater?  Join our Fundraising Committee!  Are you missing the opportunity to connect with your Spelman sisters?  Join our Social Committee and help to plan events! Do you want to get more of your friends active with the Chapter? Our Membership Committee would love to have you!  If you can think of it, we probably have a committee for you.  If joining a committee isn’t your thing, we’d love to see at our General Body Meetings or during one of our Chapter’s activities! We miss you and hope to see you soon!

Yours in Sisterhood,
